The Mini Submarine equalised against Alcorcón thanks to goals from Requena and Ontiveros, the second from the penalty spot
Villarreal B earned a point against Alcorcón at the Estadio de la Cerámica in a match in which the Yellows were able to recover from their opponents’ goals to draw level with goals from Requena and Ontiveros, the latter from the penalty spot (2-2).
Villarreal B went into the match with the morale that came from their last win against Amorebieta (3-1). The team from Madrid, meanwhile, had gone four games without a win. The Yellows began by dominating the game. Jorge Pascual’s header went just wide of the target.
Despite the home side’s attempts, it was Alcorcón who took the lead. Addai broke down the left flank, crossed into the heart of the box and Dyego Sousa was there to beat Iker Álvarez with an accurate header (0-1, m. 15).
Villarreal B reacted well. In fact, they could have equalised just eight minutes later with a right-footed shot from Carlo that Jesus Ruiz saved with difficulty. It was the precursor to the equaliser. Dani Requena scored the leveller when he took advantage of a loose ball in the box to score his first goal in the Spanish second division (m.24).
Alcorcón struck again. It was the 34th minute of play when Jacobo perfectly executed a free kick to put 1-2 on the scoreboard. Despite the goal, the Mini Submarine kept trying. They could have equalised with a header from Jorge Pascual that ended up crashing against the crossbar to the despair of the Yellows.
The reward came at the start of the second half. Lanchi was awarded a penalty and Javi Ontiveros took the responsibility. His brilliant strike from 11 yards made it 2-2 (48th minute).
Villarreal B had a double chance in the 75th minute. Jorge Pascual was all alone in front of Jesús Ruiz, but his shot was blocked by the Alcorcón goalkeeper. The subsequent rebound fell to Requena and his long-range effort went just wide of the post. A pity.
