Villarreal B beat a tough opponent (2-0)

The Yellows overcome Peña Deportiva with goals from Sergio Lozano and Juan Carlos Arana

Villarreal B had to be patient to beat a hard-working Peña Deportiva side and get three important points in their aim of finishing the season towards the top of the table. The Yellows grew into the game and came away with the victory thanks to goals from Sergio Lozano and Juan Carlos Arana (2-0).

The Yellows had six players missing through injury, but were convinced they could return to winning ways after losing their last game against league leaders Ibiza. Peña Deportiva wanted to get the three points to move away from the danger zone at the bottom of the standings.

There was not much between the two sides in the first half, with both teams having goalscoring chances. The clearest opportunities for the Yellows were a Copete header from a corner and a ball that Ahn got onto just yards out from goal. Both chances did not end up in the back of the net due to a great intervention by a Peña Deportiva defender.

The goals came in the second half. Lozano made it 1-0 in the 52nd minute. The midfielder scored a placed effort after a nice piece of play.

It was 2-0 in added time, when Arana, who had just come on, fought to get on the edge of a ball that seemed to be lost, sending it into the back of the net.

Next up for Villarreal B is an away trip to Atlético Levante this Sunday (4pm CET).
