Villarreal award grants to UJI sportsmen and sportswomen

The club has recognised 77 young athletes at an event attended by Marcos Senna

Villarreal CF, through its Endavant Formació project and the Endavant Chair, has awarded grants to elite athletes at the Jaume I University (UJI) in a ceremony held at the Faculty of Health Sciences and attended by the club’s ambassador, Marcos Senna. In addition, the UJI also celebrated the Festa de l’Esport.

For the 2022/23 academic year, the Yellows club has awarded a total of 77 grants to athletes from the public university. These grants began in the 2012/13 academic year, and since then 468 have been awarded to sportsmen and women studying at the Jaume I University. The cumulative total of this investment reaches 278,500 euros and since the first endowment of 10,000 euros in 2012, it has increased to the current 30,000 euros per year, which is the amount that has been maintained since the 2016/17 academic year.

The grants have a dual objective: on the one hand, to reward the academic performance of university sports students based on the average of their academic record and, on the other hand, to value their high performance in the field of sport, taking into account their activity or results in a specific sporting modality. They are also intended to finance part of the expenses incurred by the study of the regulated degrees in which the student athletes are enrolled.

Cátedra Endavant, created through an agreement between the UJI and Villarreal CF in 2015, although the collaboration between the two entities began in 2012, has as general objectives the promotion of training, research, dissemination of knowledge and innovation in the field of sport, as well as the promotion of the practice and sporting competition among university students through training grants.
