The students sponsored by the university and the Yellows have handed out 90 kilograms of charity and schooling material to villages in the Moroccan desert

The CEU-Villarreal team have returned victorious from their humanitarian adventure in Uniraid. After a seven-day journey crossing Morocco, in a car more than 20 years old, crossing the Atlas and overcoming all sorts of natural obstacles and tests of strategy and ability, without GPS or electronic devices, CEU Cardenal Herrera University student Andrea Maldonado and her brother Carlos successfully carried out their goal: handing out 90 kilograms of charity and schooling material to those living in villages in the Erg Chebbi desert.

The youngsters’ participation in this charity rally, aimed only at university students, has been sponsored by Villarreal CF and the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, thanks to the sale of tickets for league games at the Estadio de la Cerámica, which was donated to the university, with the aim of obtaining resources for the social actions carried out by the university community.

For Andrea Maldonado, CEU student, taking part in this adventure was an incredible experience. “Without a doubt, I’ll go away with the knowledge that the most important thing to go far is team work,” she undelrines. She added that she has learned a lot from families and children from the desert villages who ‘have so little and are happy.’ “I can’t explain the satisfaction and the the smiles on the children when we gave them a Villarreal ball,” she said. Andrea also underlined her thanks for the support from the club and from the CEU, a university, who she underlines “worries about its students and developing social work supporting those most in need.”

Helping charity through Endavant Formació

This social collaboration initiative is part of the Aula Endavant project within Endavant Formació, which integrates the reality of a top-flight club, with the formative, practical and scientific programmes of the university.

Before collaborating with this project, the Yellows and the CEU had used their charity cheques for other initiatives: the participation of a group of nursing teachers and students in a humanitarian mission to Ghana alongside NGO Youcanyolé and to the CEU UCH’s Pixel Project, to help proposals for patients within the province of Castellón.
