Villarreal aspire to get another win against the whites this Saturday at the Estadio de la Cerámica

Villarreal CF hosts Real Madrid this Saturday at the Estadio de la Cerámica (4:15pm CET). Historically, the whites have been one of the hardest opponents for Villarreal to beat, having beaten them on four occasions, three of those wins at the home of the Yellows.

The first win was in the 2006/07 season, when Villarreal were managed by Manuel Pellegrini and beat Madrid 1-0 with the only goal of the game scored by Marquitos.

Two seasons later, in the 2008/09 season the Submarine picked up three points for the second time and on this occasion,  it was a thrilling game that ended up with a 3-2 scoreline in favour of the Yellows. Pirès, Cani and Capdevila’s goals sent the El Madrigal stadium wild and gave the home side the win.

The last time the Yellows beat Real Madrid at home (1-0) was in the 2015/16 season when Roberto Soldado scored an early goal that was enough to take down the side from Spain’s capital.

For the last three seasons, Villarreal have come away with the same result, a 2-2 draw, in their battles with Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
