The Valencian defender was the player to feature in most minutes last season (3,448)

A more than influential season in his first season in yellow. Raúl Albiol ended the 2019/20 season as the player with most minutes to his name during a demanding season. The Valencian centre-back accumulated 3,448 minutes in LaLiga (3,238) and in the Copa del Rey (210). The Yellows No.3 played 38 games at the heart of the Yellow Submarine’s defence.

Aged 34, he put in a number of impressive performances as part of the Yellows’ back line. In fact, he only missed two LaLiga games. After Albiol, Pau Torres (3,093) and Sergio Asenjo (3,060) played the most minutes.

In terms of goalscoring, Albiol found the back of the net once, in a very important moment for the team. He scored against Sevilla FC and the Sánchez-Pizjuán, where the Yellows won 1-2. With regards to discipline, Albiol ended the season with nine yellow cards. His calmness and defensive knowledge meant that he didn’t miss any of the last decisive games due to suspension.
