The Submarine will try and get a win against Sevilla at the start of the local festivities

Three important points to give the Sant Pasqual festivities the welcome they deserve. Villarreal will be looking for another win on Saturday (4:15pm CEST) when they host Sevilla FC, who arrive at the Estadio de la Cerámica in twelfth place but without any European options.

The Yellows side return to the competition (Matchday 35) after losing in Vigo (3-2) in a match in which they showed attitude and resources, but which was conditioned by the early sending off of Santi Comesaña. With four games remaining, the Submarine are in ninth place with 45 points, seven points behind Betis in the Conference League zone.

Sevilla go into the game in good form after a five-game unbeaten run (four wins and a draw) and, moreover, the Andalusians are historically good at playing in Vila-real. Of the 21 games Villarreal have played against Sevilla at the Estadio de la Cerámica in LaLiga, the Yellows have won on seven occasions, nine have ended in a share of the points and five have gone the way of the visitors.

Villarreal’s last home win over Sevilla dates back to the 20/21 season, in a match in which a Carlos Bacca hat-trick and a Gerard Moreno goal gave the Submarine a 4-0 victory. In the last two seasons the duel between the two sides ended 1-1.

The referee

Isidro Díaz De Mera Escuderos will be the main referee of the match and will be assisted by Valentín Pizarro Gómez on VAR.
