The Yellows EDI (intellectually disabled side) will take part in the competition

The second edition of LaLiga Genuine is here! Villarreal’s EDI (intellectually disabled side) will once more take part one of the world’s most integrating competitions for social responsibility. Organised by LaLiga, through their foundation, LaLiga Genuine will have thirty teams and six bases.

This weekend in Tarragona (16th to 18th November) the first phase of a tournament will take place. The competition will also take centre stage in five other areas in Spain: Córdoba (18th to 20th January), A Coruña (1st to 3rd February), Vallecas (5th to 7th March), Madrid (26th to 28th April) and Valencia (14th to 16th June).

In the first phase, the Yellow Submarine is in Group F alongside Rayo Vallecano, CD Leganés and Real Zaragoza. The Yellows will make their first appearance in the competition against Rayo on Saturday at 11am CET. The second ‘groguet’ match is on the same day at 5pm CET against Leganés. Villarreal bring the group to a close, facing Real Zaragoza on Sundat at 10am CET.

As well as Villarreal CF, the following Spanish teams are also involved: Deportivo Alavés, Albacete Balompié, UD Almería, Athletic Club, Atlético Madrid, Celta Vigo, Córdoba CF, RC Deportivo La Coruña, SD Eibar, RCD Espanyol, Girona FC, SD Huesca, UD Las Palmas, CD Leganés, UD Levante, CD Lugo, Málaga CF, RCD Mallorca, Club Gimnàstic Tarragona, Club Atlético Osasuna, Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano, Reus Deportiu, Sevilla FC, Real Sporting Gijón, Valencia CF, Real Valladolid and Real Zaragoza.

The Yellows squad for the first phase is made up of the following players: Nerea Gil, David Pliego, David Velasco, Andrés Sánchez, Eric Villegas, Oriol Mezquita, Juan Ramón Lara, Sergio Rodríguez, Mireia Rodríguez, Victor Boulouden, Víctor Parraga, Abraham Martínez, Eduard-Gabriel Stanciu, José Manuel Vicent, Francisco José Navarro and Fernando Pinedo.

Competition structure

The competition is played as an eight-a-side tournament, in matches with four quarters, each lasting ten minutes. The season is divided in four phrases, which take part in six bases. There are a total of 30 teams.

LaLiga Genuine doesn’t only count the sporting results, but also the positive sporting actions shown during the match. Each matchday, teams will get points rewarding sporting behavior, and fair play from players, fans and coaches.
