The Yellows Academy side are already champions having won all their games with one game to spare
Villarreal’s Benjamín F, an U9s side, are the champions of a great season. The ‘groguets’ have won every game of the season, taking every point of a 39 possible so far. With one game left to play, the Yellows Academy team has the chance to win all 14 league matches.
The team coached by David Balaguer and Adrián Pérez is the highest scoring team in the league with 105 goals scored. In addition to all these statistics that speak for themselves, they are also the team with the least goals conceded in the season, with only nine goals conceded. Although this statistic is the merit of all the members of the squad, Aleix Bullón and Mario Poy, the team’s two goalkeepers, deserve a special mention. With such statistics, the ‘groguets’ lead all aspects of the table.
They are the only team to have won all their matches and are therefore also the only unbeaten team in the season. Within the team’s attacking potential, there is one name that stands out in terms of goalscoring: Adriano Monzonos, the team’s top scorer. The Miralcamp-trained striker has scored 29 goals in the twelve games he has played, almost a third of the team’s goals. In addition, he also scored six goals in the qualifying round, giving him a total of 35 goals over the course of the season.
The Yellows Academy squad was promoted to League 5 after qualifying. In that round, Benjamín F struggled to get the season off to a good start, but as the months have gone by, the team has progressed and has managed to find its best form.
All this success of the Benjamín F comes from the Yellows Academy methodology. The Miralcamp team prioritises playing with the ball, trying to play out from the back with the ball and have control of the game and chances. In addition, they also work on the non-sporting aspect, training the kids and teaching them values such as effort, teamwork and respect.
Great opponents
Despite having won all their matches, Benjamin F have had to face opponents who have not made it easy for them. To exemplify the level of equality in the season, with one game left to finish the league, there are four teams with a chance of finishing in second place, such as San Pedro, Almenara Atlètic, CD Benicàssim and Sporting de Castelló, who have followed the group champions closely throughout the tournament.
