Fernando Roig spoke about the current goings-on at the club during the Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting

Villarreal CF president, Fernando Roig, appeared yesterday afternoon in front of the media at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground for the club’s General Shareholders’ Meeting. At the event, the president approved the accounts for the 2021/22 season and gave his approval to the budget for the current season.

Roig also reviewed the current sporting situation of the club, the state of the transformation work at the Estadio de la Cerámica and made an appeal to the fans, insisting on the importance of supporting the three main Villarreal teams in order to achieve their objectives. These were the most important statements from his appearance:

The club’s financial situation

“It’s a complicated year economically for the vast majority of clubs, but we are going to try to achieve financial balance as we do every year, which is the club’s main objective.”

Works at the Estadio de la Cerámica

“We are going to refurbish a stadium in less than seven months. This is something historic, and when people see it on 31st December – which will not be completely finished, but will be available for football – they will appreciate it. A construction company from Vila-real is going to do a historic job in seven months.”

The team at the moment

“I have a positive feeling. Those of us at the club, players, coaches and, above all, the fans, have to take the team forward. I think it looks good. On the 20th , we have our first game after the break for the World Cup in Qatar in Guijuelo and we have to win that.”

The importance of the fans

“Villarreal CF are the only team in Spain with one club in the first division and another in the second division. We must not lose sight of this situation because it is unique in our football and we must value it. We have a great fan base and we have to show it by cheering every weekend for the first team at the Estadio de la Cerámica, but also for the reserve team. The Villarreal B boys are the future and they need the support of all the fans”.
