Villarreal Women had a moment of recognition for their top scorer before the game against Cáceres
A great touch. Villarreal Women were just about to play for promotion to the top flight of Spanish football against Cáceres, but before kick-off they wanted to recognise their top scorer this season, Salma Paralluelo, who picked up a serious injury to her left knee in the last league game.
All of the players in Sara Monforte’s starting XI took to the pitch wearing a Salma’s shirt, with the number 11 on the back. When it was time for the pre-match photo, they took it off to show Salma’s name. They also prepared a special shirt with ‘Fuerza Salma’ (Stay Strong Salma) on it, which was signed by the whole squad. This shirt was gifted to the young forward, who will have an unforgettable memory from a historic game.
Salma was unable to be on the pitch playing, but she was still an important part of a historic day for Villarreal Women.
