Sara Monforte: “”We are in high spirits after three victories”

Villarreal Women are looking to extend their positive dynamic against tough opponents Real Sociedad (Saturday, 6:30pm CET)

Villarreal Women’s head coach, Sara Monforte, appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against Real Sociedad (Saturday 17th, 6:30pm CET) at the Mini Estadi, in which the ‘groguetes’ will be looking to extend their positive dynamic.

Here is what she had to say:

The team’s performance

“As in the last few games, everyone is fit except for Irene Miguélez. We’re in good spirits after three consecutive victories. We’re capable of beating anyone, but we’ve got our feet on the ground and we’re still working hard.”

Going for a fourth consecutive win

“I hope it can happen like this. We have the toughest opponent in recent weeks. Real Sociedad are one of the best teams in the league, with one of the best head coaches and some very interesting players. One of the things we have improved is in both areas.”

The keys

“We have to counter their positional play because they are one of the teams that play the best on the ball and they have decisive players like Nerea Eizaguirre. We need to have more possession and improve in the second half. It’s hard for us to manage the game when we take the lead”.

The fans

“We’ve always felt supported by the fans. The day against Betis was very nice. It’s very gratifying because in the last few weeks we’ve been able to give the fans back their support, which on many occasions we haven’t been able to do. There is that communion.

First triple win for the Submarine?

“I hope so. We are the only club with three professional teams. Villarreal are undervalued in this respect. Hopefully this week all three teams will be able to win so that all the hard work is reflected. The other day, when we beat Valencia, I said that it was very important for the club to beat our biggest rivals and for us it’s a source of pride to bring joy to the club. It’s very important for us that they feel proud of the Women’s team.”
