Sara Monforte underlined that the team is ready to face Real Sociedad

Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against Real Sociedad (Saturday, 12pm CET), which will take place on Pitch 9 at the Miralcamp Training Ground and will be shown on Villarreal TV. Here is what she had to say in her press conference:

Positive feelings after the cup

“Getting through to the next round was something really positive for us. It was a tough, hard-fought match, where our players, throughout the match and during the penalty shootout, stepped up. This win, and with that getting through against DUX Logroño, gives us a lot of confidence to face what’s ahead.”

The team’s current situation

“We don’t think that extra-time against DUX Logroño will affect the match against Real Sociedad. Now we have three important games to come quickly, so we will adjust the training sessions and rest days. However, the players are feeling good, and luckily, we have a deep squad, where every player can bring sometimg. We also have important players returning like Pancha Lara and Irene Miguélez.”

The opposition

“Real Sociedad are a top team, they’re second in the table, and in my opinion, they’re the best team in the league alongside FC Barcelona. However, we’re not the team that faced them in the first round of matches, and we’re convinced that we will be able to compete.”

Keys to the match

“Real Sociedad are a team with a lot of attacking resources, they know their playing style and have players who can make a real difference. Knowing how to dig in and defend, and being ready to capitalise on the chances we have will be key.”

Salma’s return

“Salma returning is perhaps even better news than us getting into the next round of the cup. We’re very happy that she’s been able to return, we’re really happy for her. We need to be patient and keep our heads though, and know how to control her situation, because he performances need to be progressive and not immediate. She deserves everything good that could happen to her, because she’s worked really hard, as have the medical staff.”
