The Argentine goalkeeper promised hard work and underlined his excitement at playing for the Yellows
Argentine goalkeeper Gero Rulli was presented this lunchtime as a new Villarreal CF footballer in a press conference alongside the club’s CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles.
The keeper thanked the club for the support shown in him and showed his happiness at signing for Villarreal: “Defending this badge is an honour. I’ve always wanted to play for a club of this level. I promise to work hard and sacrifice everything to return the great feelings I’ve received since I arrived.”
With experience in LaLiga and a brief pass through French football with Montpellier Hérault SC, Rulli underlines that he has joined Villarreal in the best moment of his footballing career: “I feel like I’m at the peak of my career so far. I’ve learned from everything, from the good times and the bad times. Everything I’ve experienced has led me to where I am now. I had to leave Real Sociedad and at Montpellier, I got back to enjoying football once more. Now I’m at Villarreal and I’m very happy to be here.”
With regards to aims, Rulli underlined that his priority is adapting to the dynamics of the squad as quickly as possible: “First of all I need to get to know my new team-mates and get integrated in the group. In the long term, I will fight for the club to continue improving and for the club to reach its objectives, helping in everything that’s possible.”
The new Villarreal goalkeeper expects a demanding, but exciting season for the Yellows: “Starting LaLiga well is crucial. Seeing ourselves towards the top in the first few games gives us confidence and helps us to work calmly. It will be a difficult and a competitive season, but we have a good squad and we want to make our objectives into reality.”
Finally, Rulli defined himself as a calm goalkeeper between the sticks: “I want to transmit calmness to my team-mates and my coach. I like to communicate with my team-mates and help make corrections from my position. I will try and bring security in goal.”
Roig Negueroles: “We think the best Rulli is yet to come”
Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles welcome Rulli to the Yellows, and promised him a bright future with the Yellows: “He’s a player who knows LaLiga and has just had a great season with Montpellier. We think the best Rulli is yet to come. We are very happy with the signing and we hope to have a lot of success in the coming seasons.”
