The Villarreal CF President analyzed the team’s situation after the winter transfer window

At the presentation of ‘Torrecid’ today, one of the main sponsors whose name now shines upon the Estadio de la Cerámica, the Villarreal CF President, Fernando Roig, took the opportunity to analyze the team’s situation following the winter transfer window. The Yellows President stressed that the most exciting additions for the fans should be those that are already in the side: “We have the signings right here. Soldado, Cheryshev and Bakambu will be back soon, which will be like three signings. None of these players played very many minutes in the first round of matches and will be in perfect condition. We will have five strikers and I believe we have a good all round team”.

With regard to the released players, Fernando Roig assured that it was the best for all involved: “We sold Pato because it was beneficial for all three parties, and N’Diaye has gone to Hull City because he was not getting enough minutes”. On the other hand, the Submarine can now count on the presence of Adrián López, on loan from FC Porto until the end of the season, who also played for the Yellows last year: “We’ve brought in Adrián who we already know from last year and will surely do well for us”.

The Villarreal CF President pointed out that the club did not sign any more players because no great opportunities came up to do so: “If there had been a good opportunity we could have signed someone, but the club CEO did not consider it appropriate. We’re working hard to bring in players. It’s an entire club effort. Sometimes we get it wrong, but we try to get it right the majority of the time”.

Lastly, Fernando Roig referred to the possible installation of new technology in football stadiums: “Hawk-eye technology definitely has to be installed. The tests have already been done at the Estadio de la Cerámica and the cameras have been fitted”. However, the ‘presi’ does not think it is right to stop the match at every moment: “What I don’t like is for games to be rereffed. Interrupting the match doesn’t seem reasonable to me. The goal line [technology] is objective. Spanish referee’s are very good and we have to understand that it is a very difficult job”.
