Villarreal players Karl Toko Ekambi, Pablo Fornals, Samu Chukwueze, Alfonso Pedraza and Ramiro Funes Mori all got minutes behind them during the second international matchday. Miguel Layún, as with all of the other Mexican players who ply their trade in Europe, was allowed to return to his club early.

Cameroon striker Toko Ekambi started as his country fell by the narrowest margin to Brazil (1-0). The Yellows No.17 was substituted in the 89th minute. Midfielder Fornals got his second Spain cap, playing 26 minutes in the 1-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Chukwueze, aged just 19, made his Nigeria debut in the 0-0 draw with Uganda. The young winger was named in the starting XI, and was substituted at the start of the second half.

Pedraza was also named in the starting XI for ‘La Rojita’, as they played France U21s (1-1). The winger won the penalty ahead of Spain’s goal.

Finally, Funes Mori played 90 minutes in Argentina’s 2-0 win over Mexico. Layún didn’t play, as alongside his European team-mates, he returned to his club early.

Por último, Funes Mori jugó los 90 minutos del triunfo argentino sobre la Selección Mexicana por (2-0).
