Miguel Álvarez underlined that it will be key to have control of the match and stop CD Castellón’s transitions

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media this lunchtime to analyse the build-up to the upcoming match against CD Castellón, which will take place at the Mini Estadi this Tuesday at 5pm CET.

Álvarez expects a good match: “There are a lot of things that make me think it will be a great game. Castellón have an experienced team with a lot of quality, while we have a young squad with talent.”

To get a positive result, the Mini Submarine boss underlined that Villarreal B need to play like they have done in the most recent games at home: “The most important thing is keeping at that level that we’ve been showing at the Mini Estadi. We want to take control of the game, stop their transitions and their set pieces. When we do that, we’re very strong because we don’t give the opposition many chances. We need to impose the rhythm we want on the game and be intense.”

Regarding the opposition, Álvarez underlined that they are one of the strongest sides in the Primera RFEF: “They’re a team with a lot of potential. They have a great squad. A manager who belongs there, who understand what the club is perfectly. He makes them play well. I think they have less points than what they deserve.”

Finally, despite it being a match between two teams from the same province, the manager downplayed the rivalry, underlining that it is just another game, with three points up for grabs: “For us, it’s just another game. It will be a good game because both teams set up well and want to attack. There are three points up for grabs. I understand that for some people, there is a rivalry, but we are thinking about the game as another chance to get points.”
