Villarreal B draw against Nàstic de Tarragona in a controversial game
Villarreal B had a goalless draw against Nàstic de Tarragona in a tight match where both defences came out on top. The Yellows ended the match with ten men after Nicolas Jackson was sent off harshly for supposedly diving to win a penalty.
Nàstic went into the game in form and were also the team to have conceded the fewest goals in Primera RFEF Group II. They showed why and came away from Vila-real with a point.
The first half was intense, even and without clear goalscoring opportunities. The rain fell heavily on the Mini Estadi, which led to a lot of imprecision on the pitch.
The Yellows suffered a blow in the first half with Nikita Iosifov having to go off injured after a quarter of an hour.
It was hard to get past Nàstic’s defence, which was made up of experienced players such as Aythami, Trillies and former Yellow Joan Oriol.
In the 65th minute, Juan Carlos Arana also went off the pitch due to an injury, with Álex Forés replacing him. Real bad luck.
The Catalan side slowly started to attack and also had clear goalscoring opportunities. For Villarreal B, Jackson nearly scored after a Dani Tasende cross from the left. It went just off target. In that piece of play, he made contact with the goalkeeper, and was shown his first yellow card.
It was Jackson who was centre stage of one of the most controversial moments of the game. The Yellows striker fell in the box late on, and the referee decided it was not a penalty. He also decided that it was a dive and showed him his second yellow card. Surprising.
Sorprendente.
