The Yellows head coach underlined the excitement of the challenge of facing Real Madrid and trying to compete with the best

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media in a remote press conference to analyse the build-up to the game against Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Saturday, 4:15pm CET). The Basque manager underlined the demand of facing the current LaLiga champions: “It’s a top-level test. Tomorrow we face a very tough opponent. I’m very excited to see how we respond against a team like that. They are going to force us to give 100% and be focused for 90 minutes.”

Villarreal go into the game after putting together a good run of results. However, Emery was prudent and backed his side to continue working as hard as possible to stay in form: “We’re feeling good but this is a long season and we need to have our feet on the ground. We need to be consistent and in matches like this show that we can be up there with the best.”

To get a good results against Los Blancos, Emery underlines that staying focused will be crucial from the first minute: “It’s key to give our all until the 90th minute. We can’t lose focus. They’re a team with a lot of talent and they punish you if you give them just a little bit. We want to have more control of the game and impose our quality. To do that, we need to focus on small details, that’s where the game will be decided. The individual duals will decide the game. If we don’t impose ourselves like that, we will have to be efficient and take our chances up front.”
