Sara Monforte’s team lost to Real Madrid to end a historic season
Villarreal Women closed a historic season by losing to Real Madrid Women at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium (1-0). The Yellows had already secured their place in the First Division, while the Whites were playing for a place in the next edition of the Champions League.
Sara Monforte’s team withstood Madrid’s onslaught until the 43rd minute, when the referee pointed to the penalty spot. T. Alonso fouled Esther and Asllani took the spot-kick (1-0).
The game became more even in the second half. In fact, the best chances fell to Villarreal Women. Both for Belén. In the first of them, the yellow ’19’ did not take advantage of a killer pass from Salma and in the second, Misa made a great save from Belén’s effort.
