The Villarreal head coach underlines that his player put in a good performance in a demanding game

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery analysed that his team put in a great performance to beat Getafe 1-0: “The win always make plans good. It was a very difficult match and you could see that from the start. We tried to take control of the game with the ball. It was a demanding game. We made changes in the second half to give the team more energy. The word to sum it up is satisfaction. I’m very happy for the players who have come into the team today,” he commented.

For Emery, the Yellows’ attack and impressive performance in defence were key: “We had a lot of effiency in both boxes. We didn’t concede a lot in defence and in attack we had three chances and took won. In games like today’s, you need that clinical nature.”

The next challenge for Villarreal will be against Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals second leg (Thursday, 9pm CEST). “We’re all very excited with the Europa League semi-finals, but we needed to be able to compete in LaLiga too. We dug in because the way to be able to enjoy being in Europe is via LaLiga. The players responded. It’s important to share work out among the team. We wanted to continue where we left off on Thursday. We are going to go London with the idea of continuing to improve and strengthening certain things. The team is alive, enjoying the journey,” he concluded.
