The Villarreal head coach spoke to the media after the historic qualification for the quarter-finals at the Juventus Stadium

Unai Emery appeared in front of the media after the convincing win for the Yellow Submarine at the Juventus Stadium. The head coach wanted to dedicate reaching the quarter-final to José Manuel Llaneza. He underlined his team’s great performance to beat the Italian giants in their own stadium. Here are the standout aspects of what he had to say:

A difficult tie

“In the last 16 against Juventus, you need to prepare for a match where there are going to be a lot of tough moments. They have a very good defence, and they leave few spaces at the back. We needed to play a long game. We needed to be patient and make sure it was a long game. The result is exaggerated for what happened in the 90 minutes, but not for what happened in the last 15 minutes.”

Excitement of getting into the quarter-finals

“I’m in love with the Europa League, but I also want to enjoy the Champions League. It was a great tie to see how we could compete. Last season, we broke through a barrier by winning teh Europa League. We broke through another barrier by knocking out Atalanta, and now another one by knocking out Juventus. Each round is tougher. Getting through excites us a lot.”
