Villarreal’s EDI side shines in LaLiga Genuine

The Yellows were victorious against Nàstic (2-0) and Sporting de Gijón (2-1)

What a start! The Villarreal CF EDI (intellectually disabled team) kicked off LaLiga Genuine in great style. The Yellows achieved two victories and lost one of their three games in Tarragona.

The Yellows played the opening game against the host team, Nàstic de Tarragona, which they won 2-0. On the Saturday afternoon, the Yellows were back in action again for their game with Real Betis. The green and whites beat Villarreal 3-0. Lastly, on the Sunday, the Submarine put an end to the first round in good style, winning an important game against Real Sporting 2-1.

The next LaLiga Genuine round will take place in Sevilla, with Sevilla FC (31st January, and 1st and 12th February) and Real Betis (28th and 29th February and 1st March), as hosts of the second round. Afterwards, UD Las Palmas will host the third round (27th, 28th and 29th March), along with Sporting de Gijón (24th, 25th and 26th April). Lastly, Bilbao will host the final round, which will take place on 29th, 30th and 31st May. 

As well as Villarreal CF, the following will participate: Deportivo Alavés, Albacete Balompié, UD Almería, Athletic Bilbao, Atlético Madrid, RC Celta de Vigo, Córdoba CF, RC Deportivo La Coruña, SD Eibar, RCD Espanyol, Girona FC, SD Huesca, UD Las Palmas, CD Leganés, UD Levante, CD Lugo, Málaga CF, RCD Mallorca, Club Gimnàstic de Tarragona, Club Atlético Osasuna, Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano, Reus Deportiu, Sevilla FC, Real Sporting Gijón, Valencia CF, Real Valladolid, Real Zaragoza and the debutants this year Real Betis Balompié, Cádiz CF, CD Tenerife, Elche CF, Granada CF and Getafe CF.
