Defeat to Real Madrid (0-2)

The Yellows, despite the defeat, put in a good performance against the side from the Spanish capital

Villarreal Women were defeated by Real Madrid when they visited the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground on Saturday evening. Feller, with a double, decided a game that Villarreal were able to compete against one of the strongest teams on the European scene.

Villarreal Women and Real Madrid Women played out an all-square tie during the first half hour of play. Desire, intensity, possession and the result, something, in the end, decisive in football.

However, Feller was on hand to break the deadlock in the 34th minute of the match after a fine cutback inside the area and then curling her shot into the top right-hand corner of the goal defended by Carmen Carbonell.

The Yellows did not give up and tried to react by looking for an equaliser, but, at least in the first half, the solid defence of the team coached by Alberto Toril did not allow them to do so.

Villarreal Women came out on top in the second half. In fact, Fatou Kanteh came close to equalising in the 54th minute after finishing off a great team move that only Spain international Misa prevented from ending in a goal.

The Yellows were forgiving, but Real Madrid were not. Feller, just two minutes later, made it 0-2, taking advantage of a counter-attack initiated by a mistake by the Yellows on the ball.

Sara Monforte introduced fresh legs to the pitch to change the game. Rocío, Lucía, Tere Morató and F. Lara came on with the aim of turning the game around. It was mission impossible for the Yellows, who lost 0-2 to Real Madrid.
