Villarreal B lose in a match where they had two penalty decisions go against them
Villarreal B were defeated at the Nuevo Los Cármenes (3-0). The Yellows lost to Granada CF in a match that saw two very controversial penalties go in favour of the home side.
The match started in the worst possible way for Villarreal B. In the first minute, Granada opened the scoring. The home side took advantage of a mistake as the Yellows played the ball out from the back to take the lead through Uzuni.
The Mini Submarine started the game hesitantly and the home side took advantage of this. After ten minutes, the referee gave a dubious penalty for a foul by by Iker Álvarez on Uzuni. The Albanian striker himself took the spot-kick to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Miguel Álvarez looked the bench in search of fresh legs to shake up the game. After the substitutions, the Yellows improved their performance at the start of the second half, but were unable to close the gap on the scoreboard.
On the 80-minute mark, the referee was again in the spotlight when he awarded a second penalty in the home team’s favour. The Granada player, the subject of the penalty, appeared to be clearly offside, something that went unnoticed by the refereeing team. Once again, Uzuni, from the penalty spot, scored the third and final goal of the match.
