A great goal by Nicolas Jackson was not enough to get a point against FC Barcelona B
Villarreal B lost in their visit to the Estadio Johan Cruyff (2-1). The Mini Submarine competed well in a tough stadium, but were unable to get any points despite their hard work and Nicolas Jackson’s great goal. With an overhead kick, the Senegalese striker cancelled out the opener from Jutglà, but FC Barcelona B came away with the win thanks to an Aranda goal late on.
The Mini Submarine started the game well, but were unable to generate clear chances in the opening 45 minutes. But neither did the home side. The second half started with an early Ferran Jutglà goal in the first minute. With the scoreboard against them, Villarreal B showed what they were made of, and with half an hour left, Jackson scored the goal of the week with an overhead kick after an Ahn cross from the right.
At 1-1, Miguel Álvarez’s side enjoyed some of their best moments on the Johan Cruyff pitch. However, it was FC Barcelona B who found a goal with a quick counter. After a great save by Filip Jorgensen, the ball fell to Aranda, who scored the winner.
Villarreal B will return to action next Saturday at 7pm CEST at the Mini Estadi. The Yellows will face Linares CF.
