Quique Setién calls for continued competitiveness and predicts an open game at Balaídos (Friday, 9pm CET)

Villarreal head coach, Quique Setién, has appeared before the media to analyse the match against RC Celta, this Friday, at 9pm, at Balaídos. The most relevant statements made by the coach are the following:

Maintaining the good level

“What we have done so far is very good, but the most important thing is to maintain a line of performance. As a team we have to keep the same record and the same intentions we had in the last game against Real Madrid in each one of them.”

Demands and motivation to be competitive

“We have to maintain the level of expectation against Celta to be competitive and win the games. The intentions and motivation, those emotional issues have to be very positive.”

Absentees

“Jackson, Pedraza and Lo Celso are not yet ready for Celta. Capoue is better and trained with the group today. Baena and Raúl Albiol are suspended. The rest will be ready to compete.”

Celta, a quality team

“They have a record that can make us uncomfortable. They’re a team with good players, at a high level, despite being at the bottom of the table. They’re a team with resources and we’ll try to impose ourselves on them with our game, but they’ll certainly make us suffer.”

An open match

“We expect an open game in some phases. No team will sit back and wait for you all the time. Maybe not as open as the last two, but we’re going to have to defend in our own half at times. I expect an open game in which they will be as committed to us as we are to them.”
