The lawyer says he was born to follow the Yellows and believes he was born to be a Villarreal fan
Carlos Chevere is from San Juan in Puerto Rico and has been supporting Villarreal since 2004, thanks to Juan Román Riquelme. He explains: “In the late 90s, in Puerto Rico, we only had one channel showing football. I used to enjoy watching Boca Juniors and Riquelme, but seeing him with a yellow shirt was like love at first sight.”
Carlos says despite being more than 6,000 kilometres away, he loves being part of the Yellows family: “I deeply feel a strong connection with the team. I feel part of a family. I love the humbleness of the club, the fans, the philosophy and the playing style. I love everything Villarreal does on and off the pitch. We have one of the best systems of developing players in the world.”
The lawyer has visited the Estadio de la Cerámica once before, during the 2018/19 season. “I went to the game between Villarreal and Real Madrid in 2019. We were fighting relegation and Santi Cazorla scored two goals. I thought we were going to lose the game but Santi made me the happiest person in the world that night. It meant so much for me,” he added.
The Yellows’ biggest fan in Puerto Rico believes he was always destined to be a ‘groguet’, concluding: ‘Villarreal was a calling for me. I was born to become a Villarreal fan. I will be a Villarreal fan forever and ever until my last breath.’
