The French midfielder will spend his third season with the Yellows in 2022/23
After signing a new contract with Villarreal CF until 2024, Étienne Capoue spoke to the club to speak about his contract extension and the upcoming season.
New contract
“I’m very happy to have extended my contract with Villarreal. I’m very happy here, I have a great relationship with my team-mates and the staff at the club.”
Aims on an individual and group level
“On an individual level, the objective, like always, is to play, to enjoy life and to enjoy football. On a collective level, we are really excited about the Copa del Rey and the Conference League, but we also want to have a good season in LaLiga.”
Best moment
“My best moment as a Villarreal player, obviously, is the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United. I also remember fondly the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich. No-one thought we could knock them out, and even less in their stadium, but we did it and it was an incredible night.”
A message to the fans
“I’m very happy to be here for two more years. I can’t wait to see everyone happy at the new Estadio de la Cerámica, where we’ll win a lot of games for sure, and we will have big things to celebrate.”
