Marcelino has underlined that winning in Balaídos will mean following the same line as the match against Rayo
Villarreal head coach Marcelino García Toral appeared in front of the media to analyse the build-up to the match against RC Celta, which will take place this Sunday at 4:15pm CEST at Balaídos.
The Asturian coach pointed out the way to get a good result against the Galician side: “Against Rayo we put in a good performance and we need to do the same against Celta. We need to be more accurate and create more chances than our opponents. We know that Celta are a team whose merits are greater and don’t correspond to the points they have. We have to be very attentive and defend well. If we do the same as we did against Rayo, we’ll have a good chance of winning.”
Despite setting victory as the objective, Marcelino assures us that it won’t be an easy game: “Celta have some brilliant players. Just like us, we also have attacking players who are in a great form. We have to defend well and do what we know how to do. The match will be difficult, but we’re going there with the intention of winning. We’ll have to show that we want to do it.”
As for Europe, he emphasised that there is no need to look beyond the next game: “We are only thinking about winning the next one and continuing to add to our tally. We don’t think about the future because everything is about what happens now. And right now we have to give everything to beat Celta. We have to show our maximum potential in Vigo. If we can do that and get the three points, we’ll have four more games left to get 12 points. There’s no need to speculate.”
Finally, Marcelino was delighted to reach the impressive milestone of 400 games in charge in the top flight against Celta: “It’s a great satisfaction. We are a group of people who started a very beautiful story. It is obvious that we are happy because from the first day we have worked with the maximum ambition. When you start you can’t think it’s going to be like this, but now it is and let’s see how many we reach. We won’t surpass Luis Aragones, but I’m sure we’ll do a few more.”
