We were confident and excited coming into the game, hoping to put in a great performance to get through to the semi-finals, but it wasn’t like that. We gifted a lot and we made mistakes that cost us. We’re going away sad and hurt.”
He congratulated the side from Miranda de Ebro: “We congratulate our opponents. They’re a great team that are really strong at home. They made it hard for us and we were unable to come away with a win.”
Finally, Calleja underlined that the team needs to put the result behind them and focus on LaLiga: “We were excited about the cup, but we need to recover as soon a possible. We wanted to get as far as possible in this competition and we ended up in the quarter-finals. Now we need to focus on LaLiga and get into the European spots.”
