Being at our best against Real Sociedad

Unai Emery insisted that his side must show character to compete with one of the best teams in LaLiga

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared remotely before the media to discuss this weekend’s fixture with Real Sociedad, taking place this Saturday, (9pm CET(, at the Estadio de la Cerámica. In addition, he assessed the quarter final draw for the Copa Del Rey, that pitted the Yellows against Levante UD.

Real Sociedad, a talented team with attacking threat

“They are a fantastic team. The sustained, collective improvement of Real Sociedad is so impressive. Individually, they perform to a very high standard. They are a group with a very particular style – very aggressive with their pressing to win the ball high up the pitch and with great offensive talent.”

Maximum effort to get the three points

“We’re both teams with very similar objectives. Tomorrow we will see how both of the sides match up. Despite the fact that we haven’t achieved results lately, we have played very well and put so much effort in. It’s going to be essential that we are on the top of our game, both individually and collectively, if we’re going to come away with the victory.”

The keys to winning the game

“They are a side that put in so much hard work, demanding that their rivals match their intensity in order to stay in the game. We want to control the game, but it won’t be easy against a team who work really well to recover the ball. We have to be persistent during the entire 90 minutes and show our character if we want to win the match.”

Levante in the next round of the Copa Del Rey

“This competition keeps getting more and more difficult. The draw has given us a derby against Levante in the quarter-finals, a team we know very well and who will make it difficult for us to progress to the semi-finals. The two sides are very excited and we want to make sure that our Copa Del Rey adventure doesn’t end here.”
