Étienne Capoue underlined the importance of Saturday’s match at the Ciudad de València (4:15pm CEST) and the confidence it can give ahead of the Champions League

Villarreal midfielder Étienne Capoue appeared at a press conference on Wednesday 30th March to review the club’s current situation, especially the important games against Levante (Saturday, 4:15pm CEST) and FC Bayern (Wednesday, 9pm CEST). These are the key quotes from the French player:

Key match against Levante

“We didn’t manage to win our previous match and we want to fight to be in Europe. The season is very long and during it there are ups and downs. We have the confidence of the coach and our teammates. Beating Levante is a very tough and very important challenge. The games before the Champions League are vital for us to gain confidence and for the fans to be with us.”

The difficulty of the Champions League

“The Champions League is very difficult, but we are doing well. We face FC Bayern, who for me are the best team in Europe. We will enjoy the tie. We know we will suffer because they are very strong and have a very difficult task of defending, but we must not be afraid. We can get a good result at home.”

Confidence in Unai Emery

“The coach is very intelligent. During his career he has shown that he does his job very well, he has won a lot of titles. Thanks to him I have a UEFA Europa League title. He does a great job of learning about his opponents and how we have to play.”

Enjoying Villarreal

“At the end of 2020 I didn’t think I was going to go down this road, but I’ve been lucky and I’m enjoying it. I don’t want this road to end now. I want to continue enjoying the Champions League and finish in a good position in LaLiga.”
