Villarreal B earn a point away to CD Alcoyano after a hard-fought match

The Mini Submarine picked up a point away to CD Alcoyano, an opponent who needed to win in front of their home fans to try to stay in the top half of the table. For their part, Miguel Álvarez’s side were looking for three points to keep up with Andorra and Albacete, but neither side could break the deadlock.

The Valencian Primera RFEF derby was very evenly matched from the first minute, although the Mini Submarino dominated possession throughout. The first big chance of the game fell to the home side, but an exceptional Gianni, today in goal due to the international commitments of Iker Álvarez and Jorgensen, pulled off a superb save in a one-on-one with Dani Vega. On the ‘Grogueta’ side, Arana could have scored the first goal of the game, but his shot was not powerful enough to beat José Juan.

In the second half, Tasende’s masterful cross was flicked on by Migue Leal and then headed on by Álex Forés, but José Juan was able to reach the ball again. Sergio Lozano, with a shot from outside the box, could have surprised the home goalkeeper, but his strike went just inches wide.

Thus, the Groguets earned a point at the always difficult ground of El Collao and against an opponent with a very experienced and seasoned squad in this demanding Primera RFEF.
