The Valencian centre-back has extended his ties to the Yellow Submarine for another season
Raúl Albiol and Villarreal have agreed an agreement for the footballer from Vilamarxant to spend another season with the Yellows, until 30th June 2023. The centre-back, whose contract was set to end at the end of this current campaign, will stay with the Submarine for next season.
Albiol joined Villarreal ahead of the 2019/20 season from Napoli. In his first campaign, he scored on goal in LaLiga, and last season, he scored twice in the Europa League, with one of them coming in those magical semi-finals against Arseanl.
Albiol, a Yellows hero and almost a centenarian
Raúl Albiol has played 98 official matches with Villarreal (79 in LaLiga, 11 in the Europa League, four in the Copa del Rey and one in the UEFA Super Cup). The experienced defender is only two games away from becoming a centenarian for the Yellows.
Albiol is one of the leaders in the Villarreal defence, and won the UEFA Europa League with the Yellows in Gdansk. During his time with the Submarine, the Valencian footballers has also been called up by the Spain national team.
