Villarreal comfortable beat Granada with an impressive team performance and a Sorloth hat-trick

Villarreal shine again. The Yellows thrashed Granada (5-1) in a magnificent team performance from Marcelino’s side, who once again tasted victory in front of their fans. And in style. A magnificent Sorloth, scorer of three goals, led the Submarine’s most impressive victory in a long time.

The Submarine went into the match against Granada full of confidence after the valuable win against Real Sociedad (1-3). With two wins and four draws in their last six games, Villarreal faced the latest big challenge to reaffirm their good momentum: to win at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Marcelino introduced changes from the match at the Reale Arena. Reina, Kiko Femenía, Traoré, Capoue, Parejo and Sorloth were the new additions to the starting eleven. Despite the changes, the Submarine got off to a great start, were effective and found the net.

Before the first ten minutes, Sorloth was already celebrating the first goal of the afternoon. The Norwegian shot past Batalla after picking up the ball in the box, only to be denied by a shot against the crossbar from Gerard after Traoré had started the move down the right.

If Traoré started the action for the first goal, he did it again for the second. In the 19th minute, the Burkinabe showed off his ability to get the ball past his marker and pass to Parejo, who burst into space in the box and, with his first touch, put the ball in with precision for Sorloth to score the second goal.

The party continued at La Cerámica and, on the half-hour mark, it was 3-0. It came from Capoue, who popped up at the near post to head home Parejo’s corner.

With this scoreline, the game went to the interval. And Marcelino took the opportunity to spread the load, introducing a double substitution, with Mandi and Guedes replacing Bailly and Gerard.

The second half started just as the first half ended. The Yellows dominated and created chances. Just three minutes after the restart, Guedes, who had just entered the pitch, scored the fourth. The Portuguese striker finished off a fine low cross from Álex Baena, cementing his place as LALIGA EA Sports’ top assist provider.

The Submarine were a well-oiled machine, and the convincing scoreline did not slow down the Groguets, who continued to enjoy themselves both on the pitch and from the stands. In the 66th minute, Sorloth made it 5-0 with a header from a strategic play. Hat-trick for the Norwegian and there was a Mexican wave at La Cerámica.

In added time, Corbeanu scored the goal of honour for Granada CF. 5-1 at La Cerámica and Villarreal are back to their best.
