The U19s lifted the league and the Copa del Rey in a dream campaign

Only one step away from a treble. Miguel Ángel Tena, who was in charge of the U19s (Juvenil A) for the first time, has led his team to a historic double. The Yellows, as well dominating their league, lifted, for the first time, the Copa del Rey. It was only the ‘lottery’ of a penalty shootout that denied the U19s the Copa de Campeones, losing on spot kicks to Real Zaragoza.

Villarreal CF has eight league titles since the creation of División de Honor Group 7, the team with most league wins, followed by Valencia, with four. The Yellows, who are the only U19 team in the country to have played in every single match possible this season, lost just five of their 40 games.

The U19s’ double this season is the second achieved by Villarreal in all of their history, after lifting the Copa de Campeones and the league title in Javi Calleja’s first season in charge of them in the 2014/15 campaign.
