Villarreal lose to Levante by the tightest of margins in the last pre-season friendly

It wasn’t to be. Villarreal lost in their last pre-season friendly against Levante (1-2) in a balanced match which was decided by Levante’s finishing. After the fifth and final pre-season friendly, the Yellows will start LaLiga next week against SD Huesca (Sunday 13th, 6:30pm CEST, Estadio de la Cerámica).

The first half was balanced and open. The two teams, open and well-organised, started to circulate the ball trying to take control of the game. With nearly half an hour on the clock, Samu Chukwueze played a spectacular cross for Paco Alcácer to score after bringing it down with his chest. Five minutes later, Sergio León, with an impressive header, made it 1-1.

The second half saw the away side come out with a lot of intensity, which paid off with 62 minutes on the clock, when they went ahead through José Luis Morales. After that goal, the Yellows tried to turn things around and were dangerous but the visiting defence was well organised and stopped the home side from scoring.
