Pedraza has analysed the upcoming match against Alavés and the current situation at the club
Villarreal CF footballer, Alfonso Pedraza, appeared before the media in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about the team’s current status, next Sunday’s important game against Deportivo Alavés and his recent experience with the Spanish national team.
The call-up to the national team
“I was almost in bed and I got a call from a number I didn’t have and they told me that I had been called up because of a player’s injury. I was speechless because it’s the last thing you expect. It was a huge joy for me and for my family.”
His growth before becoming a first-team regular
“The loans away I have had helped me grow. It’s true that it’s been many years, but that’s the way things are. Everything I’ve achieved is thanks to the clubs I’ve played for, but I’ll always be grateful to Villarreal for making me the player I am today because the prize of having reached the national team is also largely due to the years I’ve been here.”
Another academy graduate with the national team
“A job well done. Villarreal is a place that is committed to the youth system and the results are there. Many of our youth players are playing for the national team and this is a job that is highly valued and that, from the outside, shows the importance that Villarreal has for academy football.”
The match against Deportivo Alavés
“We are aware of the importance of Sunday’s game. We have to change the dynamic if we want to aspire to Europe, which is the main objective. We have to win to be in a calmer zone.”
A message for the fans
“The fans must support us, we always give 100% and everything for the club. There must be a good feeling between the fan and the player for things to go well.”
