Unai Emery has expressed his apologies on the defeat to Real Sociedad, which leaves Villarreal with no chance of playing in the Europa League next season
Villarreal coach Unai Emery has appeared before the media to analyse the defeat against Real Sociedad (1-2). The Basque coach was unhappy with the result, which left the Submarine with no chance of competing for the UEFA Europa League: “The team did a good job, they knew the game they had to play. Details were going to decide the game and they were able to turn the scoreline around and take the win. We’re frustrated with today’s result, but we also remember the previous 36 games.”
Emery also advocated turning the page and thinking about fighting to qualify for the Conference League by getting a great result against FC Barcelona on the last matchday: “That’s the objective we have left. We have to go out and win at the Camp Nou. We value this competition very much and we’re going to play in it next year.”
