Fran Escribá and José Ángel both emphasized that the team won’t give up against AS Roma
At this afternoon’s press conference, the Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, stressed that his side will play to win at the Stadio Olimpico against AS Roma (7pm CET, live on beIN Sports), although he is aware of how difficult it will be to make the comeback. “The tie is almost impossible, but if it opens up for some reason we will go in search of it [the comeback]. We know it will be really hard, but we are not going to give up at any moment. Mind you, we have to think about winning the match without thinking that the tie is too difficult. Our aim is to win and play well. From there, if a door opens up we will go for the comeback”.
The Manager is also very aware of how tough a rival Roma is, for which reason scoring first could be key. “We know that Roma have great players. In the first leg we made individual errors and they punished us, so it’s really important to score early on. We have to attack their goal, but without being careless at the back”.
José Ángel: “We want to show that we’re a strong team”
Alongside the Manager, Yellows full back José Ángel, who played for the Italian side for a season, also spoke at the press conference. For the defender, it’s important for the team to show that they’re a difficult side to beat despite the result in the first leg: “We’ve got our pride and we want to show that we’re a strong team. We want to play well. We have to be confident and positive. We will try to make them a bit nervous. We want to dominate the match”.
