The Villarreal president has underlined the coach’s knowledge of the club, as well as his commitment
Villarreal president Fernando Roig appeared in front of the press to announce the return of manager Javi Calleja to the first-team touchline, after the departure of former head coach Luis García. “We thank Luis García for his hard work and commitment to try and rectify the current trajectory of the club, but we believed a change was necessary for the management of the team. We have decided to place our trust once more in Javi Calleja, who is a manager with a great knowledge of the club and the current squad,” underlined the man in charge of the Yellows.
Roig explained why he decided to carry out a change on the Submarine’s touchline: “We need to turn around the current situation. We have 17 matches left and we don’t have time for a new manager to adapt to the side. Because of that, we think that Javi Calleja is the best head coach to help us get out of the circumstances we find ourselves in.”
The Villarreal president asked the Yellows fans to be with the team when they most need them: “We need everyone to be with us, as they have been in the most recent games. This team needs support in their fight to stay in the league.”
