Marcelino expects an attractive, intense and difficult match against Girona (Tuesday, 10pm CEST, Montilivi)
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared before the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about the current state of the team and to analyse the Submarine’s game against Girona tomorrow at the Montilivi stadium, which kicks off at 10pm CEST.
The match against Girona
“I expect an attractive, intense and very difficult match for us. We are playing against an opponent that is having an exceptional season. Only Real Madrid have been able to win at Montilivi and two other teams have drawn. They have a lot of merit for the season they are having. It will be a complicated game.”
Efficiency in the penalty area, key to winning
“We’re in a good moment. If we can keep up the pace in attack, we can cause them problems. We’ll have to be at a good level and above all be accurate in both areas. That’s the only way we’ll be able to get a positive result from tomorrow’s game.”
Míchel’s Girona
“I would like to congratulate them because I think the work they are doing is exceptional. Girona is a team that can win, draw or lose, but when they do it is always with such a strong identity that it means there is a very good job behind them. They are an attractive and efficient team – as the league table shows – they optimise the performance of the players to the maximum and they make each other better.”
Excitement in the dressing room for Sorloth’s top scorer
“It’s obvious that we would like Alexander to win the top scorer award. If we attack well, we know that he is in great form and can score more goals. We know the recipe, now we have to put it into practice on the pitch.”
