Javi Calleja regrets the defeat against Alavés after a ‘serious performance’ from the Yellows
Villarreal boss Javi Calleja regrets the Yellow Submarine defeat in Mendizorrotza, after going ahead on the scoreboard: “We weren’t able to kill the game. We’re finding it difficult to come away with the points when we have a small lead. We had to get the second goal and we weren’t capable of doing that.”
The Yellows manager backs his side to pick themselves up and is thinking about getting a good result in the Copa del Rey in the week: “We’re leaving in pain. The team put in a serious performance and we were unable to take any points away. At the moment, we can’t look at the table. We need to focus on beating UD Almería on Thursday and do the same on Sunday against Levante UD.”
