Villarreal Manager Fran Escribá, talks about what the team have to do to comeback against Real Sociedad

It is difficult, but not impossible. Villarreal Manager Fran Escribá, assured that the team fully believe in their chances to go forward in the Copa del Rey tournament. The Submarine need to make a come back tomorrow at the Estadio de la Cerámica (7pm CET) against Real Sociedad, after falling 3-1 in the first leg of the Round of 16 at the Anoeta stadium. “It’s a very important match, decisive for us. We are confident that we can go through if we play well. We’re going to play with the best eleven possible to try and turn the tie around. If we go out and play to a high intensity we will be able to turn this in our favour, despite the fact that we’ll be going up against a magnificent side”, Escribá commented.

For the Yellows Manager, it will be key to stay concentrated for every minute of the match, whether it be 90 or 120: “We’re prepared to defend solidly and we know that even though we let a goal in we have more than enough potential to score three goals. The difference in the first leg was effectiveness. And now that we have to come back, how clinical we are in front of goal is very important. We don’t have to be impatient because it’s not a huge difference and we don’t have to go in search of any heroics. We’re thinking about winning, but we mustn’t go out there obsessed with winning”.

Escribá was enthusiastic about getting far in the Copa del Rey: “I would love to keep going in the Copa del Rey. It’s a small competition and there’s not much wear and tear. It’s exciting for me, the club and the players alike. It was a tough draw for us, but we’re really hopeful. I’d be really annoyed not to get through”.
