The tennis player from Castellón made an honorary kick-off before the match with Atlético Madrid

Villarreal paid tribute to Roberto Bautista, the tennis player from Castellón, before the match this evening between the Yellows and Atlético Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Bautista, who belongs to the Endavant Esports project, carried out the traditional honorary kick-off to a great reception from the thousands of fans at the stadium.

Bautista has had a great 2019. The provincial tennis star is now in the ATP World Top Ten after a season full of success, including the Doha Open and reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals. As a child, he played in the Yellows Academy, but ended up choosing tennis.

Davis Cup champion

Recently, Bautista was crowned Davis Cup champion and took the sixth title for Spain in a memorable final. The tennis player from Castellón was part of the victory after beating Auger-Alissaime 7-6 (3), 6-3 in an hour and 49 minutes. He shared the victory with Rafa Nadal, Feliciano López, Pablo Carreño and Marcel Granollers.

The last few weeks have been emotionally intense for Bautista, with the passing of his father. Last weekend, he also got married to Ana Bodí.
