The club has been recognised with the Medal for Sporting and Social Merit from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University

An honour. Villarreal CF this morning received the Medal for Sporting and Social Merit from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, which wanted to recognise the club’s social and sporting work. The presentation of the Medal took place during the official academic year opening ceremony, which took place in its central campus, in Alfara del Patriarca (Valencia), and was attended by Villarreal CF president Fernando Roig, vice-president José Manuel Llaneza and CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles.

Villarreal president Roig was grateful for the recognition: “We’re full of join to come to such a prestigious and emblematic entity in Spanish academic education, the first private university in the Comunitat Valenciana, with nearly 50 years of growth. I think both CEU and Villarreal CF are similar. We have the same philosophy: through hard work, digging in, learning and staying humble, we want to continue growing and getting better each day. Both entities form people.”

He also underlined the values and formative objectives shared by both institutions, expressing his desire that the relevant authorities authorise as soon as possible the implementation of the Physical Sciences and Sport course in the CEU in Castellón.

Vicente Navarro, chancellor of the CEU UCH, highlighted that the club were given the Medal “in recognition for a trajectory that has gone beyond the footballing environment, making it into a dynamic sporting entity in general, and a reference point in terms of cultural values, underlining the merit of improving and being involved with society, as well as having contributed to the development of this university’s projects in its Castellón campus.”

Agreement within Endavant Formació

The Yellows and the CEU Cardenal Herrera University The Yellows and the CEU Cardenal Herrera university have good links and actively collaborate through the Endavant Formació project, where Villarreal CF backs the growth of sports among students, helping them improve in terms of training, investigation and knowledge, both socially and in the sporting world.

With the handing out of this award, the CEU UCH values its relationship with Villarreal through Aula Universitaria Endavant. A co-operation which is based in various projects, including an co-operative research programme based on education and sport, a formation programme in terms of culture, as well as work experience programmes in marketing, communications and health sciences. The club, supports a number of CEU UCH’s charity initiatives and has become a big supporter of the initiative to implement Physical Sciences and Sport course in the Castellón campus.

As well as its commitment with academic formation, through Endavant, Villarreal CF gives economic support to 30 clubs and 38 elite athletes, collaborates with more than 3,500 people from 80 centres in the Comunidad Valenciana, and carries out a pioneering initiative in Spanish football, whereby all 11-a-side teams from the Yellows Academy go to a charity centre in the Castellón province (autism, cerebral paralysis, elderly, etc) where they have a relationship with the centres’ users throughout the season, and the club also invites towns from the province to form part of matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Villarreal CF puts more than 1,150,000 Euros away eac hseason for he Endavant project, which reaches more than 30,000 people.
