The B team lose despite Hassan’s goal, in a match affected by heavy rain
El Villarreal B perdió en casa del FC Andorra en el penúltimo partido de la competición. El filial amarillo, ya sin aspiraciones clasificatorias, cayó en un choque marcado por la fuerte lluvia caída sobre el césped artificial del Prada de Moles.
Villarreal B lost away to FC Andorra in the penultimate game of the season. The B team, who can no longer qualify for the promotions to Segunda División, lost in a game that was affected by the heavy rain on the artificial Prada de Moles pitch.
The first goal came from a set piece. Andorra took a corner that was flicked on at the near post and sent into the back of the net by Víctor Casadesus at the far post (m.14).
It was 2-0 on the scoreboard just before half-time. The referee blew for a penalty after a De la Fuente handball, and Carlos Martínez scored from the spot (m.44).
At half-time, Miguel Álvarez made a total of four changes, trying to revitalise the team.
One of those players who came on made it 2-1. Haissem Hassan scored after a low Álex Millán cross, with the Yellows No.30 firing off a potent low shot (m.61).
In the second half, Villarreal B were much better, and Millán nearly got the equaliser on a number of occasions. Goalkeeper Ratti was in top form to deny the striker.
The B team pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but when they were looking at their best, Andorra made it 3-1. Carlos Martínez was clinical on the counter attack (m.83).
Villarreal B’s next, and final, game of the season will be against Barcelnoa B at the Mini Estadi at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) (time TBC).
