The Yellows reserves put their heart and soul into finding a goal to get the win, but were unsuccessful
Villarreal B recorded a goalless draw against Ontinyent at the Mini Estadi at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) in a game which the Yellows reserves grew into. The Mini Submarine had clear chances in the second half to take away the three points, but they were unable to beat Craviotto and had to settle for a point.
Miguel Álvarez had eight players unavailable for selection for various reasons. Sergio Lozano, Enric Franquesa, Dani Villa and Mario González where injured, while Pepe Castaño and Emmanuel Lomotey were suspended. Furthermore, Samu Chukwueze was with Nigeria U23s and Manu Morlanes was resting after being with the first team.
The Yellows’ best chance came in the second half. Xavi Quintillà, who returned to the reserves after spending a few matchdays with the first team, crossed in and Rubén Mesa diverted the ball towards goal with his knee from point-blank range, being kept out by a great stop by the Ontinyent goal. Mesa himself had a chance with an overhead kick just minutes before, which shaved the woodwork.
Next up for Villarreal B is an away game against Olot (Sunday, 12pm CEST).
