Miguel Álvarez’s side had clear goalscoring opportunities and could have got a better result against Barça B (0-1)
Unfair. Villarreal B lost by the finest of margins against Barcelona B in an exciting game. The Mini Submarine had a number of goalscoring opportunities, hitting the woodwork twice, but eventually, it was the away side who came away with the three points thanks to a Monchu goal (0-1).
There were just three minutes gone when Carlos Blanco hit the bar. In the 24th minute, Villarreal B hit the woodwork once more. This time it was after a right-footed Álex Baena shot from the edge of the area, which hit Iñaki Peña’s left post.
The Yellows had chances throughout the match, but were unable to find a killer instinct. Instead, it was Monchu who found it. The Barça B midfielder scored the only goal of the game with a free-kick (m.77). The Yellows battered their opponents in the closing stages, looking for a goal, but it did not come.
Next up for Villarreal B will be an away game at Andorra (Sunday, 12pm CEST).
